Esperanza is a light, refreshing genshu from Koimari's Saki line: an undiluted Junmai Ginjo that comes in at just 13% alcohol. Made with Yamada Nishiki polished to 55%, it has a soft, refreshing mouthfeel with bright acidity and gentle umami. A light effervescence and delicate balance lead to a clean, crisp finish with excellent clarity. Graceful and easy to drink, it suits relaxed moments and light dishes. Serve chilled.
About the brewery
The Maeda family ran a kimono business in the Edo period before Maeda Kenshichi turned to brewing at Imari, Saga, in 1909. The Koimari mark, named after the porcelain the town is known for, followed in 1971, and the more modern Saki line was added in 2008. The brewery is now led by fourth-generation president Kumiko Maeda, who aims to keep to the house's history while looking for the form sake should take today.
