An authentic umeshu built on sake brewed specially for the purpose. After steeping, the Nanko plums are puréed and returned to the umeshu, concentrating the fruit's flavour and giving a cloudy, fruity body. Rich yet refreshing thanks to the plums' natural acidity, it is best on the rocks, which brings the plum character forward and softens the palate.

About the brewery
Kokonoe Saika was founded in 1908 in Kinokawa, Wakayama. Unusually, it is a red-vinegar maker that brews its own sake as the raw material, and its business rests on three pillars: red vinegar, sake and umeshu, with the plum liqueurs built on the company's own sake.
