Orihara Singapore Hosts Its First Ever Sake Pairing Dinner
Updated: Sep 11
On 6 August 2026, Orihara Singapore organised and hosted our very first sake pairing dinner at our very own Restaurant and Bar.
The seven-course dinner menu was created and executed by Chef Murakami and his team, paired with six sake pairings from Shindo Shuzo and Shuho Shuzo.
The intimate night saw a total of 20 guests, who got to dine with the brewers themselves— Shindo Shuzo's Shindo-san and Shuho Shuzo's Takeda-san.
Both breweries are based in Yamagata Prefecture, located in the Tohoku region of north Japan. The prefecture itself is known for their amazing natural landscapes such as the Okama Crater, the Snow Monsters aka Juhyo, located at Mount Zao, and the Mogami River.
The prefecture also produces a wide variety of fruits including cherries, watermelons and 'La France' pears.
Shindo Shuzo
Located in the centre of paddy fields in eastern Yonezawa City, Yamagata Prefecture, Shindo Shuzo was once under the direct control of the Shogunate in the Edo period.
Under the leadership of its 9th-generation owner, the brewery is located near natural hot springs and landscapes, largely defined as one of the most prominent rice-producing areas in Japan.
Their flagship sake brands are Gasanryu and Kurouzaemon.
Shuho Shuzo
Founded in 1890, Shuho Shuzo utilises and spotlights Yamagata Prefecture’s natural resources and landscapes alongside their time-honed sake-brewing techniques unique to the brewery.
Using sake rice grown in Yamagata, they polish in-house over 10 types of sake rice. They wish to introduce more people to sake by continuously challenging themselves to brew sake that suits the modern palate. Their flagship sake brand is called SHUHO.
Sakes by Shindo Shuzo and Shuho Shuzo are available for takeaways and dine-in at our Restaurant & Bar, and reservations can be made via Inline or Whatsapp. You can also find them online at our website: oriharasg.com.
